Ludy Baby #4
Ludy Baby #4
About a year ago, Eric and I were praying about adopting for the second time. For some inexplicable reason, we felt a strange desire to pursue twins. Most people would have thought we were crazy since we already had two little ones, but it sounded fun to us! When a set of twins in Haiti came available for adoption, we said we’d like to take them. But then the door closed. We continued to pray and ask God to write our family’s story in His own perfect way. A few months later, we met Bex, and God scripted the beautiful adoption story of Kipling Joel Anthony. The idea of adopting twins faded into the background.
But in early November, not long after Kip arrived home, Eric and I received a fun little surprise from God – the realization that another Ludy baby was on the way! You know all those stories about people adopting and then unexpectedly getting pregnant? Well, now you can add another one to the list. Eric and I are expecting a home-grown Ludy addition this June! Kip and his new sibling will be only 7 months apart. Not much different from having twins! It seems God was preparing our hearts for this long before it happened.
I’ve heard many different theories about the adoption/pregnancy phenomenon – one hippie midwife I met with attributed it to “baby energy.” But no matter what medical or mystical reasons others may come up with, I know that both of these babies – our newly adopted bundle and the new little life inside of me – are not accidents or coincidences, but precious gifts from our Heavenly Father. He lovingly creates each little life in His image – and has ordained all of our days before we are even born. His ways truly delight and astound me!
I am thrilled to watch His loving hand script our family story. Sure, it will be an adventure. This next year, Eric and I will have four children ages four and under! But with God’s strength and assistance available to us, it doesn’t sound overwhelming. It sounds fun. I know there will be challenging days. But there will be so many wonderful memories watching all our children grow up together.
Hudson summarized this season of my life quite well the other day when he announced, “We just keep on getting babies!” For all you baby lovers out there, the Ludy home has now officially become the place to get your baby fix!
