Life with Dubber
Life with Dubber
Well, little Kipling has been a part of the Ludy family for nearly four months now – and what a sweet bundle of joy he is! Every morning Hudson and Harper greet him with an enthusiastic shower of kisses and cuddles. When Kip first arrived home, Harper coined the phrase “Baby Dubber” because she couldn’t say “Baby Brother.” The nick-name kind of stuck. So now we all refer to him as “Dubber” or “The Dub”. In a strange way, “Dubber” kind of fits little Kip’s personality. He is always wide-eyed and inquisitive, taking in the world around him with expressions of shock and awe. He is constantly making funny noises, grunts and gurgles. When you say the word “hi” to him, his whole body wriggles with excitement and he belts out a warbled version of “hi” in return. Already, he’s such a polite little man! Recently Eric (who is the king of crazy nicknames) started calling him “Don Stinkers” because of the sketchy aroma wafting from his morning diaper – I have washed my hands of this nickname, but I do admit that there are moments when it seems to fit him quite well!
When I think about Kip, I am reminded of the verse that says that our God is able to do “exceedingly, abundantly beyond all we could ask or think.” Last year when Eric and I were praying that God would lead our next adoption and hand-pick a child for us, we had no idea how beautifully God would write the story. Harper’s adoption had been so miraculous that, to my human mind, it seemed unlikely we could expect something quite that perfect a second time. But, as it says in Psalm 71:3, God is our strong habitation, to whom we may continually resort. We discovered once again that His mercies are new every morning and there is no limit to His faithfulness! Kip’s entrance into our family was every bit as supernatural and amazing as Harper’s was. Though we live in a generation riddled with doubt and cynicism toward God, let us never forget that we serve a God who is unchanging and ever-faithful – a God who daily loads us with benefits when we delight in Him! (Psalm 68:19) He cares more than even we do about the details of our lives – and He can always be implicitly trusted with every area; be it our love story, our family story, or our life story. If you dare to lean fully on Him, you will not be disappointed!
Today is an important day for Kip, because it’s Bex’s (his tummy-mommy) birthday! So in honor of Bex’s big day, Annie put together a video of some of Kip’s most memorable moments – it captures his adorableness very well! And of course it has a Ludy touch, or should I say an Eric Ludy touch of ridiculous hilarity as well! To see the video, click here.
